Thanks....I know Aunt Rose is the ghostwriter here...as only an "upstart son" would include "bruce, barry and alan, each of whom is sweeter than the other." Aunt Rose knows the truth :-)) ...Missy

most of the houses on keap street were four story brownstones. they were actually mansions lived in by wealthy protestant people. at some point one jew moved in and then another and whoops, there went the neighborhood. the first floor of these townhouses housed the downstairs maids room, the kitchen and the formal dining room. grandma and grandpa lived on the groundfloor. the second floor which was called the parlor floor was occupied by uncle ruby and me and our three boys, bruce, barry and alan, each of whom is sweeter than the other. the third floor was occupied by sam and mollie and marvin, may they rest in peace, and howard and michael, may they and their families prosper, until they moved to queens, which was then like the country. carl and tessie and malcom, elliott and gayle lived on the upper floor. when the sam and mollie clan moved out, mrs/ muchnik and her daughter becky moved in on the third floor. mrs. muchnick and grandpa didn't get along to well. she would yell at grandpa because he didn't keep the shabbos to her standards and he would respond by throwing his pillow at her.

anyway, as time goes by, we can reconstruct a picture of keap street.

this is signed by aunt rose, but is she really the writer, or is it one of her upstart sons?

love, rosie

Hi Aunt Rose! I have a question for you...I want to know details of Keap Street...Dad talks about everyone living on a different floor. Who lived where and til what age (the kids, that is, you don't have to divulge parents' ages :-)? Did they really play ball off the stoop? I'd love to hear more about whatever you remember...

It's been too long, I hope you're well. I have some great memories, especially of your warm smile. XOXO Missy
